This is a post for those curious as to what the idea for Voidwhisper really is.
Seeing the current posts, you may be led to believe that Voidwhisper will be a game about shooting with flying ships amidst the clouds. Well, that’s part of it!
But Voidwhisper will be a deep simulation of a universe of humanoid civilizations, played singleplayer or multiplayer, with few players or many of them, via LAN or the Internet, in the style of Minecraft. Big vessels with rusty and salvaged components will roam the cosmos and the atmosphere of planets freely. It will be a long development journey, but it will be worth it and we are curious to what will be of it in a few years.
I do research on artificial intelligence and am very passionate about it, so new techniques for game artificial intelligence will be a deep focus of mine. Both me and Isaac also really enjoy procedurally generated content and creatures.
Initially, you will just be another individual in this universe, climbing the ranks of beast hunters, pirates, merchants, diplomats, traders, treasure hunters and so on. You will have the opportunity of meeting historical figures, be them humanoid or beasts, and leave your mark in the future of the universe, by yourself or with your friends.
These are some of the initial concepts for what we imagine there will be in Voidwhisper (although Isaac was quick to tell the sails look like hanging panties, so I have been imagining more traditional sail styles since then).
I currently draw a lot of inspiration from Kenshi, one of my favorite games.
